GUNTUR, NOV. 25. Additional quantum of water demanded by the farmers of Prakasam district will not be provided, the district Collectors of Guntur and Prakasam, G. Jayalakshmi and Udayalakshmi, said on Thursday. Both the Collectors along with the Bapatla MP, Purandhareswari, and two MLAs of Prakasam district inspected the condition of the Addanki branch canal and the got to know the condition of the crops under its ayacut. It was decided to provide only the assured water for the late kharif crop as per the State Government guidelines. There were, however, no farmers or people's representatives from Guntur district to represent the case of farmers here. The NSP canal was found to be in good condition with no requirement of any major repair works.
