JAIPUR, NOV. 25. As part of its resource mobilisation drive for children rescued from servitude, the Bachpan Bachao Andolan will organise a live performance of the Ghazal maestro, Pankaj Udhas, here on November 28. The musical concert has been titled "Ek shaam bachpan ke naam'' (an evening dedicated to childhood). The children rehabilitated at Bal Ashram in Viratnagar, near here, would also perform in the programme, said the Andolan's chairperson, Kailash Satyarthi, here today. The rescued child labourers would seek people's support for the campaign to liberate more such children and motivate the audience to help in their rehabilitation. Mr. Satyarthi said the Andolan had succeeded in rescuing about 66,000 children from the clutches of servitude through legal intervention during the 25 years of its work. The Andolan's efforts had led to the policy on children's rights being adopted and the law against child labour enacted. He said the emerging trends of corporate responsibility and ethical treatment of children were positive signals of the sense of accountability increasing in society at large. A private company manufacturing motorcycles has come forward to support the concert, in which Bhawani Singh of the erstwhile ruling family of Jaipur will be the chief guest.
