Foreign tourists' arrival up by 47 % in Rajasthan

JAIPUR, NOV. 25. The arrival of foreign tourists has increased by 47 per cent in Rajasthan in the first nine months of the current year. This is against a national average of 25 per cent increase during the same period. The domestic tourism also recorded an impressive 48 per cent rise in the State in first nine months of 2004.

The figures were given by Vinod Zutshi, Secretary, Rajasthan Tourism, while receiving the prestigious "Galileo Express Travel and Tourism Award 2004'' in Delhi. The Rajasthan Tourism was conferred the award for its best visual advertising campaign.

During the first nine months of this year, Rajasthan received six lakhs foreign tourists and 130 lakhs domestic tourists. The prestigious luxury train, "the Palace on Wheels'', run jointly by the Rajasthan Tourism and the Indian Railways, had a record booking this season, Mr.Zutshi informed. He said that a comprehensive media campaign to further promote tourism in Rajasthan was being launched.
