KANCHEEPURAM, NOV. 25. The Kancheepuram judicial magistrate today remanded `Anil' alias Anilkumar, arrested in the Sankararaman murder case in Chennai yesterday, to police custody for two days. The number of persons in custody in connection with this case has risen to 20. The investigation officer, S.P. Sakthivel, sought five days police custody for Anilkumar as the prosecution wanted to obtain information about the vehicle used by the assailants and the weapons used to murder Sankararaman at the Varadaraja Perumal temple at Kancheepuram on September 3. After recording the officer's statement, the magistrate, G. Uthamaraj, asked the accused whether any counsel was appearing for him and whether there was any wound on his person. Anilkumar replied in the negative. He also said he had no objection to being kept in police custody for five days. Later the magistrate said Anilkumar would be kept in police custody from 12.30 p.m. on November 25 to 5 p.m. on November 26.
