ADELAIDE, NOV. 25. Australia is looking to bury New Zealand under an avalanche of runs before unleashing the spin menace of Shane Warne to sweep the series against New Zealand in the second cricket Test at Adelaide Oval. The signs don't look promising for the Kiwis, smashed by an innings and 156 runs after controlling the opening two days of last week's Gabba Test, yet skittled for a record low 76 in their second innings inside four days. Adelaide is traditionally a bat-friendly wicket which takes turn later and with scorching hot weather forecast for the entire five days the emphasis will be on spin. Warne, Test cricket's leading wicket-taker with 549, will be Australia's trump card, while the Kiwis are likely to use two spinners, Daniel Vettori and Paul Wiseman.
The teams:
Australia: Justin Langer, Matthew Hayden, Ricky Ponting (captain), Damien Martyn, Darren Lehmann, Michael Clarke, Adam Gilchrist, Shane Warne, Jason Gillespie, Michael Kasprowicz and Glenn McGrath. 12th man: Brett Lee.
New Zealand (from): Mark Richardson, Mathew Sinclair, Stephen Fleming (captain), Scott Styris, Nathan Astle, Craig McMillan, Jacob Oram, Brendon McCullum, Daniel Vettori, James Franklin, Chris Martin and Paul Wiseman.
Umpires: Steve Bucknor (WI) and David Shepherd (Eng). Match referee: Mike Procter (RSA). Agencies
