MADURAI, NOV.25 . Members of the Tamil Nadu Highways Road Employees' Association today took out a procession in the city demanding reinstatement of 9,914 road workers, whose services were terminated by the State Government. The processionists, carrying placards and raising slogans, wanted the State Government to implement the High Court verdict, which ordered reinstatement of the dismissed employees. The Tamil Nadu Government Employees' Association's district joint secretary, M. Gnanathambi, flagged off the procession. The Madurai divisional president, R. Rajavadivu, led the procession. The secretary, C. Prabhakaran, and State aecretary, Murugan, and the district vice-president (TNGEA), Guru Tamilarasu, addressed the protestors.
Dindigul
About 350 sacked road workers today took part in a candle light march and staged a demonstration before the Dindigul Municipal office. Earlier, they took out a candlelight rally, which started at the Dindigul panchayat union office near the bus stand and reached the municipal office after passing through A.M.C. Road. Later, they staged a demonstration before the municipal office and raised slogans against the State Government.
Virudhunagar
Over 150 members of the Tamil Nadu Highways Road Employees' Association participated in the procession taken out here. The president of the district unit, Govindan, led the protestors.
