Mainly clear sky

Mainly clear sky with the minimum temperature likely to remain around 14 degrees Celsius has been forecast for Friday. Temperatures recorded on Thursday were a maximum of 29.5 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 14 degree Celsius. Relative humidity was 38 per cent.

Entries invited

Applications have been invited from small-scale industries for the National Awards-2003 by the Small Industries Department. All units permanently registered with it and in operation for the last four years are eligible. Interested parties can procure forms from the Director, SISI, and submit the same on or before Nov.30. Felicitated

The Marwadi Siksha Samithi that runs the colleges of R.G. Kedia College, D.R. Jindal Junior College and other institutions felicitated its secretary, Surendra Luniyaji, for being conferred with the `Samaj Ratna Award' by the Oswal Samaj and presented by the Karnataka Governor recently. The award was in recognition to his service in the field of education and health.

Award

for Gummadi

The senior film artiste, Gummadi Venkateswara Rao, will be presented this year's `Gurajada Vishishta Puraskaram' on November 30.

The Gurujada Sanskrithika Samakhya in a press release said the award presentation would form part of `Gurajada Sahiti Chaitanyothsavam'. The earlier recipients of the award include J.V.Somayajulu, Gollapudi Maruthi Rao, C.Narayan Reddy and K.Vishwanath, the release added.

`Prakash Utsav'

The 535th `Prakash Utsav' birthday celebrations of the founder of Sikh religion, Guru Nanak Devji, will be celebrated by the members of the Sikh community on Friday. In this connection, a `Vishaal Deewan' (mass congregation) will be held at Exhibition Grounds, Nampally, between 10.30 a.m and 3.30 p.m on Friday where a large number of Sikh devotees will converge.

The event will be marked by the recitations of Gurubani Keertans (holy hymns) by the reputed Ragi Jathas. On the same night, a `Keertan Darbar' will be organised at Gurudwara Sri Guru Sabha between 9.30 p.m and 2 a.m, according to a press release.

Convocation

The 33rd convocation of the Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan's College of Communication and Management will be held on December 12. All the students who have passed the Post-graduate Diploma course in Communication and Management for the academic year 2003-2004 can register their names for the convocation latest by December 10 by submitting their details along with a registration fee of Rs. 50, according to a release.
