HYDERABAD, NOV. 25. The proud moment of students to receive Pratibha awards from the Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, was not without an element of sadness. The topper in MPC stream of Intermediate from Warangal district, Anvesh Ganji, could not live to this day to receive the medal and the certificate. The boy died on April 19 while the Intermediate results were declared on May 10. His father, Tirupathi Reddy, took the award with tears in his eyes. Dr. Reddy warmly embraced Mr. Tirupathi Reddy after handing him over the medal. The cheering and jubilant mood all around in the stands of the stadium suddenly died down as it was announced that Anvesh was no more and his father would receive the award. Mr. Tirupathi Reddy, a farmer from Kesamudram village of Warangal district, told reporters that his son died in Hanamkonda due to pneumonia when he was preparing for EAMCET and All-India Engineering Entrance Examinations. Mr. Tirupathi Reddy had also received the Telugu Akademi Pratibha awards on behalf of his son a couple of months ago.
