HYDERABAD, NOV. 25. A Division Bench of the Andhra Pradesh High Court comprising he Chief Justice, Devinder Gupta, and the Judge, M. Narayana Reddy, on Thursday directed the authorities to inform the court by Tuesday of the various issues connected with the insistence of the authorities that helmets be worn by drivers of two wheelers. The bench was dealing with a writ petition filed by Raghunandan in public interest. The petitioner claimed that the imposition of this condition was arbitrary and not in public interest. The bench was not inclined to interfere at this stage of admission to set aside the rule. The bench felt that, before passing the final orders relevant information about availability of the standard helmets and steps taken by the authorities to ensure that helmets of good quality were made available in the market was before the court. The bench wanted to know details about counselling and steps taken by the authorities regarding helmets and the possibility of extending the deadline to wear helmets. The case is listed for Tuesday.
