BANGALORE, NOV. 25. A sum of Rs. 3.45 lakhs was reported stolen from a passenger who was on his to Mysore at the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation bus terminus here on Wednesday. The police said N.B. Bannur of R.P.C. Layout, intending to purchase a flat in Mysore, boarded a KSRTC bus after purchasing a ticket. Once in the bus, a group of four men made Mr. Bannur move around for a seat, telling him that they had reserved the seats for their relatives. Finally, after Mr. Bannur found a seat, he noticed that his bag had been torn and his money missing. By then, the four men had also disappeared. Bannur, the police said, suspected the four to have stolen the cash.
Arrested
The Chickpet Police have arrested four persons on the charge of attempt to dacoity near Mamoolpet Government High School on Thursday. The police recovered machetes, iron rods and knives from them. Another person fled the spot, the police said. The police gave the names of the arrested persons as Mujahid (22) of Haleguddadahalli, Nayaz (23) and Nazir (23), both from Tipu Nagar, and Izahit (25) of Kengeri New Town.
Held
The City Crime Branch (CCB) Police on Wednesday arrested five persons on the charge of gambling at a lottery shop in the Shankarapuram Police Station limits and recovered Rs. 6,285 in cash and other articles from them. The police gave the names of the arrested persons as Satish (28), Manjunath (44), Laxman (32), Anand (34) and Muniraju (54).
Arrested
The CCB Police also arrested eight women for soliciting in public on Hebbal Road and Cubbon Park. Three women and a man were arrested on the charge of immoral trafficking in women from a house in Subramanya Nagar.
Seized
The Chandra Layout Police have arrested the owner of a shop on Vijayanagar Chord Road for allegedly selling fake welding rods and recovered rods valued at Rs. 15,000 from him. The police said there were fake rods in the name of a well-known brand at the shop.
Cows recovered
The Jayanagar Police have arrested two persons on the charge of stealing cows. They have recovered five cows from them. The police gave the names of the arrested persons as Puttaswamy (23) of Kanakapura taluk and Nagaraj (21) of Kanakapura Road.
