THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, NOV. 25. The Minister for Finance, Vakkom B.Purushothaman, has opined that the media can contribute in a big way in bringing about a positive change in society. With the tremendous influence that the media enjoys in society, a lot is expected of it, he said. Inaugurating a seminar on "Kerala politics and the visual media", organised here this evening by the Lovers of Visual Entertainment (LIVE), he said the electronics media should exercise more restraint in this regard. Social and development issues should be highlighted after prioritisation. Senior journalist K.Mohanan observed that the information revolution has brought about a drastic change in society in the last two decades. The role of the media should be that of a critic and not that of an opponent. Even criticism should be confined to certain limits.
