LDF `jatha' begins

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, NOV. 25. The ice-cream parlour sex scandal in which the Industries Minister, P.K.Kunhalikutty, is involved, is a blot on the democracy, P.K.Vasudevan Nair, MP, has said. Inaugurating the four-day campaign `jatha' organised by the LDF district committee at Kilimanoor today, Mr.Nair sought the resignation of Mr.Kunhalikutty. N.Rajan, MLA, presided.

School admission

The lists of students provisionally selected for admission to LKG classes for 2005-06 in the St. Thomas Schools, Mukkola, have been published in the notice boards of the respective schools, the Mar Thoma Church Educational Society secretary, P.M.Abraham, said.

NSS celebrations

The Nair Service Society (NSS) president, P.V.Neelakanta Pillai, inaugurated the Navathi celebrations of the society organised by the Jagathy NSS Karayogam on Wednesday evening. The Thiruvananthapuram Taluk Union president, M.Sangeeth Kumar, inaugurated the Mannam Balasamajam by handing over a copy of the `Patavali' to the Samajam president, J.Jyothiprakash.

Death anniversary

The DMK leader and former Union Minister, Murasoli Maran, was a leader who championed the cause of the Dravidians, the DMK State president, M.A.Mazood, has said. He was addressing a meeting organised by the Thiruvalluvar Foundation to observe the first death of Maran here today.

Award presented

The former Chief Minister A.K.Antony today presented the Vallakadavu Gandhi Award for the best social worker in the coastal belt to Francis Albert here today. The award has been instituted in memory of A.P.Syed Mohammed, who was popularly known as Vallakadavu Gandhi. The Zam-Zam Association patron, S.M.Iqbal, presided.

NCC Day

The NCC Director of Kerala and Lakshadweep today organised a get-together for 200 physically challenged children at the Rotary Institute at Vazuthacaud. The programme was organised as part of the 56th NCC Day celebrations. The NCC Deputy Director-General Brigadier, N.P.R. Pillai, attended the function.
