DAVANGERE, NOV. 26. Anil Kohli, president of the Dental Council of India (DCI), has said that the standard of dental education has to be improved. Inaugurating the silver jubilee celebrations of Bapuji Dental College and Hospital here on Friday, Dr. Kohli said that despite developments in dental treatment, the standard of service was not up to the mark, and this was undermining the profession. He called upon dentists to keep abreast of developments in dental science. He hinted at derecognising a few colleges, which were substandard and were not being run on a professional basis. He said that many colleges were being run badly and had poor infrastructure. He said that action should be initiated against such colleges. K. Sadashiva shetty, principal and organising secretary of the celebrations, welcomed the gathering. A.C. Jayanna, Kasal Vittal, Veeranna, and D.S. Mehta, vice-principal, were present on the occasion.
