KOCHI, NOV. 26. Malappuram, Kollam, Ernakulam and Thiruvananthapuram completed the semifinal line-up in the men's section of the 34th State senior handball championship held at the Government HS court, Panampalli Nagar here on Friday. In the quarterfinals, Malappuram defeated Kozhikode 19-14 while Kollam thrashed Kannur 24-8. Thiruvananthapuram beat Kottayam 18-12 and Ernakulam edged out Palakkad 29-26. In the women's section, Kasargod, Kollam, Kannur and Kozhikode moved into the semifinals.
Men (quarterfinals): Malappuram 19 bt Kozhikode 14; Kollam 24 (Baiju 12) bt Kannur 8; Thiruvananthapruam 18 bt Kottayam 12; Ernakulam 29 bt Palakkad 26 (Nishad 13).
Women (league): Thrissur 14 bt Ernakulam 3; Kollam 16 bt Kasargod 1; Kannur 11 bt Kollam 4; Kozhikode 7 bt Thiruvananthapuram 5; Kannur 8 bt Kottayam 5.
