HYDERABAD, NOV. 26. The stage is set for the annual Hyderabad 10K Run with 30,000 and odd participants expected to take part in the 10-km run around the Hussainsagar on Sunday. The Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, will flag off the event at 7 a.m. "The response has been good and number of participants has increased many fold," Ramesh Babu, chief coordinator of 10K Run, badminton champion, P. Gopichand, and film producer, D. Suresh, said at a press conference here on Friday. On-the-spot registrations would also be accepted with a fee of Rs. 30 per head. Proceeds from the run would go to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund for treating children with heart ailments and Mission Sports, a programme to encourage young sportspersons with poor financial resources. Traffic would not be allowed along the route of the event. "Efforts are on to reduce inconvenience to people," the ACP, Traffic, Muralidhar Rao, said. The MCH Additional Commissioner and Project Director, Multi-Modal Transit Service, N.V.S. Reddy, appealed to people to use special MMTS services being run for the event to avoid traffic hold-ups and parking problems.
