HYDERABAD, NOV. 26. The Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) will host the second of the three regular national festivals it has planned from this year. The first event was the three-day Premavati Festival of Dance held from October 22. It will now host the Taramati Festival of Music from December 3 to 5 at the open-air auditorium in the Taramati Baradari Culture Complex. Stating this to newsmen, the Tourism Minister, J. Geeta Reddy, said programmes would be held from 6.30 p.m. to 10.30 p.m.
Schedule
On December 3, Asha Khadilkar and Shounak Abhisheki would present `Swarabhishek' and `Abhang' (Maharashtrian classical and folk music form). The highlight of the evening would be a Carnatic instrumental by U. Srinivas and his brother, Rajesh, on the mandolin, followed by a Hindustani vocal by Ustad Rashid Khan. Rajasthani folk music by the `Langas and Manganiyars' would be held on December 4. The evening would draw to a close with the deep, sonorous voice of K.J. Yesudas. On the last day, `Pandwani', a narration of stories of the Mahabharat by Teejan Bai from Chhattisgarh, followed by `Thumri, Jhula, Chaiti and Kajri', Hindustani semi-classical vocal by Pandit Chhannulal Mishra of Benaras would be held. The evening would be rounded off with `Peace and Joy', where santoor maestro, Pandit Shivkumar Sharma, and his son, Rahul Sharma, would perform together.
