Ex-Mayor's house burgled

Thieves broke into the house of the former Mayor, Julfekar Ali, in Koka Bazar, near Charmahal, on Thursday night and took away Rs. 2.75 lakhs in cash and jewellery weighing 15 tolas. Mr. Ali and his family members were away when the burglary was committed.

Four unidentified persons took away two mobiles and Rs. 2,200 in cash from an accountant of cellular network firm, A. Krishna Kumar (25), when he hired an autorickshaw at Jubilee Hills checkpost to go to Krishnanagar on Thursday night. The four persons, who got into the vehicle, stopped it near Krishnanagar, beat up Mr. Kumar, snatched his mobiles and cash.

Ex-librarian robbed

A retired librarian, Haleem Rahman, lost her pension papers, two bangles weighing two tolas and Rs. 1,100 in cash after two unidentified persons snatched away her handbag at Abids on Thursday. The victim was standing in front of a store when the snatchers struck, the police said.

Patrolling jeep hits 3

Three contract labourers, including two women, were injured when a patrolling jeep of Begumpet police station hit them while the latter were sweeping the road near Prakashnagar `T' junction late on Wednesday night. A case was registered against the driver on receipt of a complaint from a woman.
