ANANTAPUR, NOV. 27. The Home Minister, K. Jana Reddy, has urged women self-help groups to improve their living standards by properly utilising loans being given by the Government. He also asked them to repay the loans in time so that they can get more loans in future. Speaking at a `Runa mela' jointly organised by DRDA and Velugu at Gooty here, he said the Government was working for the development of women in all spheres. He said the Government was giving loans to women SHGs at 25 paise interest rate, adding that it was planned to given loans to 12,500 groups during the current year alone. Later, he distributed cheques worth Rs. 2.4 crores to 944 women The Home Minister also inaugurated a newly constructed building for a municipal school under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan programme, at Guntakal.
