NELLORE, NOV. 27. The Second Additional Judicial First Class Magistrate, Nellore, M.K. Vijayalakshmi, on Friday sentenced an accused in a `cheque-bouncing' case to six months simple imprisonment. He was also asked to pay Rs. 1 lakh to the complainant within a period of two months. According to details, K. Sivaprasad, of Magunta Layout, Nellore and Ch. Rama Rao, of A.C. Nagar, Nellore, were running a partnership firm. Following some differences, Rama Rao, split with his partner and in settlement of dues was given five cheques by Sivaprasad. While the bank honoured two cheques, it dishonoured the remaining three valued at Rs. 83,000. A notice was served on the accused on October 30, 2001, to ensure payment of the cheques. Thereafter a private complaint was filed in the court under the Negotiable Instruments Act. In another case the Fourth Additional Judicial First Class Magistrate, Nellore, P.R. Rajiv, on Saturday, sentenced a fair price shop dealer to six months simple imprisonment, besides levying a fine of Rs. 1,000. According to details, the Nellore Rural Food Inspector, Malakonda Reddy, raided a fair price shop, owned by K. Tulasi Rao, at Indukurpet, on August 7, 2001 and seized some packets of wheat flour. The laboratory analysis report revealed that the stocks were adulterated.
