Pondicherry
By Our Staff Reporter
PONDICHERRY, NOV. 27. The Pondicherry Pradesh Congress Committee president, V. Narayanasamy, has appealed to the Lt Governor and the Chief Minister to intervene immediately and protect those who deposited their money in a private finance company here. Addressing a press conference today, Mr. Narayanasamy MP, said over 10,000 persons, including retired government employees, deposited their money in fixed deposits and also pledged their jewels with the company. But the company virtually remained closed when the depositors went to collect their maturity amount. Already letters had been sent to authorities concerned, including the Reserve Bank of India. Mr. Narayanasamy said the Pondicherry Government should take over the property of the company and dispose them to meet the commitments towards the depositors.
