BANGALORE, NOV. 27. Chengdu in Sichuan province of China is looking to the State for setting up a software technology training institute. This was stated by Hao Kangli, member of the Standing Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, Central Polit Bureau, at a reception in honour of the former Chief Minister, S.M. Krishna, held in Chengdu on Friday. According to a press release issued here by the office of Mr. Krishna, who was today appointed Governor of Maharashtra, Prof. Kangli said: "Long-distance medical treatment or telemedicine could be implemented in China with the help of Karnataka and they are keen on setting up a software training institute in Chengdu." "Chengdu is looking at Karnataka as a trading partner and we can procure raw materials in the field of biotechnology, pharmaceuticals and automobile industry from India much more than what is being imported today," he said.
