YSR prefers SRC to UPA panel

By Our Staff Reporter

SANGAREDDY, NOV. 27. Even as the United Progressive Alliance has decided to constitute a sub-committee to look into the demand for separate Telangana, Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy has said that as Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh he prefers constitution of a second SRC to a three-man committee.

He said this at a press conference at Naguldevpalli, near Narsapur of Medak district, today.

The Chief Minister was in Medak district for his one-day `Rajiv Pallebata' programme.

Answering a question on the possibility of a Bill being introduced in the winter session of Parliament, as announced by the Union Minister and TRS president, K. Chandrasekara Rao, he said that he came to know about it only through newspapers.

However, he said that there was nothing wrong if separate statehood was achieved through consensus.

TDP criticised

While continuing his tirade against the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Dr. Rajasekhara Reddy asked the Opposition to stop creating hindrances in construction of irrigation projects. He pointed out that unlike the Congress, the TDP had no history of agitating for irrigation projects. He advised the TDP to join the mission.

He said he would soon come up with a package to take up minor irrigation projects.
