KURNOOL, NOV. 27. The Home Minister, K. Jana Reddy, has said action against CPI(Maoist) activists for going to villages with weapons will depend upon public pressure. Talking to reporters here on Saturday, Mr. Jana Reddy maintained that the Government time and again had appealed to naxalite groups not to enter villages with weapons fearing it might lead to exchange of fire with the police. On the Government's reaction in case the naxalite groups did not heed its advice, he said they would take into account the views of people and those involved in the dialogue process before announcing the action. He said all were equal before law and no lenience would be shown towards any individual or group. He said in the case of the film actor, Balakrishna, the police acted tough, but court granted him permission to remain in hospital.

Mr. Jana Reddy said the police were instructed not to disturb the pylons constructed by naxalites or those under construction. The Minister said the situation on the whole had been encouraging since the first round of talks with naxalite groups.
