ADILABAD, NOV. 27. The district Collector, J. Sudha Rani, on Friday asked the panchayat secretaries to prepare proposals regarding infrastructure development keeping in view the needs of their respective panchayats. Addressing panchayat secretaries, executive officers of rural development and other revenue officials at the village-level at an awareness meeting on the functions and responsibilities of panchayat secretaries, the Collector warned of an impending drinking water shortage. She asked the panchayat secretaries to send proposals on the requirements of their panchayats regarding drinking water supply. She also asked them to prioritise their development work with more concentration on providing drinking water followed by water for irrigation. Ms. Rani asked the Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer, S. Rajaiah, to look into the complaint of panchayat secretaries regarding their salaries. During her interaction, the Guda (Bela mandal) panchayat secretary (appointed on contract basis), A. Vasant Kumar, complained that he had not received salary for the last six months.
