TIRUCHI, NOV. 27 . Members of Dalit organisations and women's movements under the banner of the `Manitha Urimai Makkal Koottamaippu' observed a fast here today condemning the `alleged' interference in the functioning of the police and the judiciary in the Kanchi seer case. The organiser of the People's Movement for Human Rights, P. Rathinam, led the fast, when the general secretary of the Emmanuel Peravai, Chandrabose, and Jawahar of Neyveli spoke. A resolution referred to the a solatium of Rs. five lakhs to the family of the deceased Sankarararaman and urged the Government to provide the same amount as solatium to the families of the seven Dalits of Melavalavu murdered a few years ago.
