CHANDIGARH, NOV. 28. India squandered a two-goal lead and lost 2-3 to Olympic semifinalist Spain in the first of the two-match hockey Test series here on Sunday. A rollicking start saw the host lead 2-0 by the 18th minute but the Spaniards bounced back to draw level in the first half. Eduard Arbos scored the winner three minutes before the final whistle of the match that was played as part of preparation for next week's Champions Trophy in Pakistan. Sandeep Singh's penalty corner conversion gave India a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute before Hari Prasad swelled it four minutes later. Spain's Santiago Freixa scored in the 26th and 30th minutes as the teams went into the break level at 2-2. India paid the price for failing to capitalise on some easy chances after the break while the visitor grew in confidence and attacked the Indian citadel with well planned moves. PTI
