PALAKKAD, NOV. 28. A woman was killed and 30 sovereign of gold jewellery stolen from her body when she was alone in her house on the busy National Highway junction at Kadamkode, near Manappully Kavu temple, here today. Lakshmi, 58, wife of Thankappan of Thankam Nivas, had been alone in the house after her husband left in the morning to attend a marriage. Two of their children are employed outside the State. When Thankappan returned at around 11 a.m., he found his wife dead. There were injuries on her neck and her jewellery was missing. But no other valuables had been taken away from the house, the police said. The Superintendent of Police, P.M. Abubacker, and other top police officials visited the scene of the crime.
