Government urged to tackle crisis in farm sector

CUDDAPAH, NOV. 28. The sixth district CPI(M) mahasabha resolved to urge the Government to bail out the crisis-ridden agriculture sector, complete irrigation projects and revive closed industrial units in Cuddapah district, the district secretary, B. Narayana, told newsmen on Sunday.

The mahasabha resolved to seek the comprehensive development of Cuddapah district, which lagged behind in agricultural and industrial sectors, safeguard rights of employees, workers and Dalits and ensure drinking water supply to all the villages, he said. The district administration must convene constituency-level meetings to discuss the master plan prepared to develop the district, he said.

Industrial development

The Government must announce a comprehensive plan on industrial development in the district. The backlog posts in Central and State Governments must be filled, he said. Dalit families must be issued ration cards, free power, education, medicare, minimum wages, two and half acres of irrigated land or five acres of dry land, the mahasabha resolved.

The CPI(M) secretariat members, M.A. Gafoor and Y. Venkateswara Rao, the State committee member, M. Venkateswarlu, and other party leaders were present.
