PONDICHERRY, NOV. 28. The Central Government has sanctioned Rs. 4 crores for construction of three hostels for Adi Dravidar students in Pondicherry and Karaikal. The Adi Dravidar Welfare Minister, M. Candirakasu, said that the Union Territory Administration was keen on promoting the welfare of the downtrodden. He referred to the keen interest evinced by the United Progressive Alliance Government at the Centre to develop Pondicherry. The Central Government was frequently deputing a few Ministers to monitor implementation of various schemes here. The students of the Scheduled Caste community were now provided hostel accommodation on private premises in villages; once the Government-owned buildings were ready they would be accommodated there.
