BELLARY, NOV. 28. Mattihalli Nagaraja Rao, veteran journalist and Rajyotsava awardee, Kolachalam Srinivasa Rao, advocate, Venkataramana Rao, and Srinath Rao, were felicitated by Sri Sushmeendra Swamiji of Raghavendra Swamy Mutt, Mantralaya. They were felicitated by the swamiji on behalf of the Vipra Vedike in recognition of their contributions in various fields. The swamiji also felicitated a few students Madhuri Joshi, Manoj Kashyap, and Vikas Kulkarni who secured highest marks in the Secondary School Leaving Certificate and Pre-University Course examinations. Ranganath, member of the vedike, was also honoured for securing the seventh rank in the B.Com. examination of Gulbarga University. The swamiji gave a purse of Rs. 10,000 to the National Service Scheme unit of the First Grade College in recognition of its service towards tree plantation in Mantralaya and Bellary. A sum of Rs. 5,000 was also given to Lavanya, who secured 94 per cent in PUC and could not pursue her education owing to financial constraints. Pushkaracharya gave a religious discourse. Dasa keertana was rendered by Seshagiri Das and his troupe. Vijay Danapur, member of the vedike, welcomed the gathering. P. Sudhakar proposed a vote of thanks.
