THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, NOV. 28. Political parties and organisations, cutting across the political and social spectrum, have condemned the attack on mediapersons at the aborted venue of the special convention of the Babu Divakaran faction of the RSP (B) here on Saturday. The Tourism Minister, K.C. Venugopal, said attacks against mediapersons could only be viewed as an attack against democratic values. He sought immediate action to arrest the culprits. The Congress secretary, Ramesh Chennithala, felt it was high time action was taken to prevent such incidents. The CPI demanded action against the police officials who had arrested mediapersons without any cause. The party pointed out that mediapersons were being subjected to pre-meditated attacks in recent days. The RSP, a partner in the LDF, said the police response in the issue was only a reflection of policies followed by the Oommen Chandy Government. The KPCC general secretary, Mullappally Ramachandran, the Nationalist Congress Party, the BJP State general secretary, K. Raman Pillai, and the Purogamana Kala Sahitya Sanghom have condemned the attack.
