ERODE, NOV. 28. The Tamil Nadu Water and Drainage Board (TWAD) is conducting a detailed survey to improve the existing 32 comprehensive water supply schemes by spending Rs. 102 crores.

In a press release, the Collector, D. Karthikeyan, said that the proposal had already been sent to the Government and the TWAD was awaiting the sanction of funds. With the development of these schemes, a population of 55,76,488 would be benefited.

The Collector said that the comprehensive water supply scheme for Muthampalayam and four village panchayats was designed at a cost of Rs. 11.60 crores. If this scheme was implemented, a population of 81,760 would benefit.

Two more schemes at Periya Agraharam and Kodumudi panchayat union areas at a total cost of Rs. 4 crores were taken up for investigation. If the schemes were implemented, 35,000 persons would be benefited.

For all the schemes, water would be pumped from the Cauvery.
