KOCHI, NOV. 28. Kollam won the men's title in the State senior handball championship for the fourth consecutive year, defeating Thiruvananthapuram 24-19 at the Government HSS ground, Panampaliy Nagar here on Sunday. Ernakulam defeated Malappuram 15-9 to finish third. In women's section, Thrissur dethroned holder Kannur 25-14 to lift the title while Kollam edged out Kozhikode 7-4 in the loser's final.
Men: Final: Kollam 24 (Bala Murali 8, Gopakumar 4) bt Thiruvananthapuram 19 (M. Biju 8, Vinod Kumar 4). Loser's final: Ernakulam 15 (Shivaprasad 7) bt Malappuram 9 (Sumesh 4, Jamsheer 4).
Women: Final: Thrissur 25 (M. Deepa 10, P.V.Sheeba 5) bt Kannur 14 (C. Seena 5).
Loser's final: Kollam 7 (Thanu 3) bt Kozhikode 4.
