HYDERABAD, NOV. 28. The Disciplinary Action Committee of the APCC, which met here on Sunday, could not take a final decision on re-induction of expelled leaders for anti-party activities during the Assembly elections. At a meeting at Gandhi Bhavan under the chairmanship of Singam Basavapunnaiah, 30 petitions were reviewed. The meeting revoked the expulsion of five Congress leaders who had contested in the seats allotted to the TRS. No final decision could be taken on re-inducting the expelled leaders in wake of some resistance from partymen. The committee favoured re-induction of a Congress rebel, Neeraja Reddy, who contested from Pattikonda seat in Kurnool district, which was allotted to the CPI. The panel members favour her re-entry on the grounds that she was a victim of faction violence in which her husband had been killed. Sources said a sitting MP from Kurnool district opposed her entry. In the case with P. Balaraju, former MLA, who took on the CPI nominee in Chintapalli constituency despite poll alliance, a senior Congress leader from North Coastal Andhra vehemently, opposed his entry.
`PCC chief to decide'
Another strange case was that of Chenchu Reddy of Srikalahasthi constituency who was expelled for anti-party activity. The sitting Congress MLA, S.V.M.Naidu, came to Gandhi Bhavan to thwart any bid by the committee to revoke Mr. Reddy's expulsion. The meeting decided to leave the issue to the APCC chief, K. Keshava Rao.
