THANJAVUR, NOV. 28. The Thanjavur District Network for Welfare of HIV Positive Persons was inaugurated here on Saturday. The Collector, J. Radhakrishnan, said that in Tamil Nadu, 12 persons were identified as HIV positive in 1997. HIV positive persons in the district will be given 35 kg of rice under the Andhyodhaya Annayojana. Steps would be taken to build group houses for them. They should approach the network for help without any reservations, Dr. Radhakrishnan said. Kalaiselvi, Dean, Thanjavur Medical College, and A. Ganesan and T. Murugesan, Deputy Directors of Health, participated in the function.
