THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, NOV. 28. Four youths who were arrested by the Cantonment police on Saturday afternoon in connection with an attack on a shop selling electronic goods and curios at the Capitol Centre opposite the Secretariat on November 23 were remanded by the court today. According to the police, Jayesh 20, Manu alias Mahesh, 20, Shibu, 22, all native of Chirakulam were arrested along with Kannan alias Suresh, 18, a resident of Vanchiyoor from the Chirakulam colony at 3.30 p.m. The police said the attack was fallout of a quarrel, which one of the gang members had with the salesman of the shop over the purchase of a mobile phone.
Arrested
The Nemom police have arrested `Kottu' alias Suresh, a resident of Naruvenmoodu in Pallickal on Saturday night, for allegedly throwing crude crackers into the compound of the Salvation Army School at Pallickal on October 25 and creating an `atmosphere of terror.' According to the police, the accused was picked up near the Thampanoor bus stand at 9 p.m. by Crime Branch sub-inspector P. Sukumaran Nair and his team following a tip off. The accused was later produced before the court and remanded.
Falls to death
Muralidharan, 45, of Aanakudi, Vamanapuram, who was cutting a tree, died after he fell off the ladder on which he was standing. The incident occurred on Sunday morning. He was brought dead to the Medical College Hospital. The body has been kept in the mortuary.
