VIJAYAWADA, NOV. 28. The district Collector, K. Prabhakara Reddy, has said that the works launched for developing the Kuchipudi village, the home for the world famous Kuchipudi dance form, were nearing completion. The district administration, after obtaining the permission from Potti Sriramulu Telugu University, has started works on construction of a tourist building and a guesthouse to accommodate visitors coming from within the country and abroad with an estimated cost of Rs. 50 lakhs. Of the total amount, the Telugu University's contribution was Rs. 10 lakhs while the district administration contributed Rs. 40 lakhs including the rice component of Rs. 20 lakhs for the construction. The district Collector who visited the village on Sunday along with a team of mediamen expressed satisfaction at the progress of works. "Once completed, the buildings are sure to play a major role in bringing back the past glory to the dance form," he said.
