HYDERABAD, NOV.28. The Chief Minister, Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy, today directed officials to float tenders for the comprehensive Rural Water Supply (RWS) project covering 232 habitations in Ranga Reddy district. The administrative sanction for the project was given a few days back. The project is being taken up after Dr. Reddy promised to provide safe drinking to problematic areas in the district during the Rajiv Palle Baata programme on June 13.
Hudco loan
During the Palle Baata programme, the Chief Minister had received several requests from villagers at Ibrahimpatnam, Yacharam, Maheswaram, Manchal, Kandukur, Shamshabad and Hayatnagar mandals for supply of water from the Krishna water project for the City. According to an official press release, the Housing and Urban Development Corporation has approved the Government's plea for Rs.150-crore loan assistance to the project. A project report has already been prepared for 60 habitations, 39 safe source habitations and 21 partially covered habitations in Ibrahimpatnam, Manchal, Yacharam, Kandukur, Hayatnagar and Saroornagar mandals at an outlay of Rs.32 crores in the first phase. The remaining habitations are proposed to be taken up in phase-II. The problematic habitations will be provided safe drinking water at an estimated cost of Rs.70 crores. The project involves two tapping points -- one each at the Gungal and Sahebnagar reservoirs.
