Endowment funds should be used for temples only: MLA

By Our Staff Reporter

CUDDAPAH, NOV. 29. Endowment properties and funds should be used solely for developing temples and devotional programmes, the Proddatur MLA, N. Varadarajulu Reddy, said on Sunday.

Assuring Governmental assistance for the temple's development, he promised to lay a cement road with Rs. 5 lakhs to the temple and asked the Proddatur municipality officials to put up streetlights for the convenience of devotees.

Temples in Proddatur earned lakhs of rupees by auctioning temple lands this year, the MLA said. The Arya Vysya Sabha president, Busetty Ramu, wanted the temple's history to be popularised and public donations collected for its development. The Chinna Jeeyar Swamy would visit the temple in January and suggest necessary changes to develop it, he said.

Earlier, Naguboyina Srinivasa Yadav was sworn-in chairman of Sri Prasanna Venkateswara Swamy temple in Proddatur.

The temple committee member, R. Krishnamurthy, also spoke.

The other temple committee members sworn in were: Narala Rama Reddy, Narala Bali Reddy, Lakshmi Devi, Subbarayudu, R. Krishnamurthy and M. Suresh Babu. The temple executive officer, Venkatasubbaiah, was also present.
