Hi-tech offers from BSNL for mobile users

HYDERABAD, NOV. 29. The Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) today officially announced many hi-tech offers for cell phone and Internet users.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, Sanjaya Kumar, Chief General Manager, BSNL, Andhra Pradesh, said that GPRS and Multimedia Messaging services (MMS) had been started for cell phone customers, while registrations were on for providing broadband connections. Broadband connections will commence from the end of December in the State.

The combined GPRS and MMS service would have a monthly rental of Rs. 349, while pre-paid customers would pay 10 paise for every kilobyte downloaded. He added that as a promotional offer, MMS would be free for the first 30 days, while activation charges of Rs. 50 for GPRS would be waived for those registering in the next 90 days.

The BSNL has also introduced a low tariff plan for cell phones at Rs. 140 monthly rental. Mr. Kumar further announced the launch of a new plastic `India Telephone Card' with longer validity periods. These cards can be used from any phone to make local, STD or ISD calls and have added features from their older version with `follow on' option for no reply, busy and called party release.
