GHAZIABAD, NOV. 29. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav today criticised the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government at the Centre for its ``indifferent attitude'' towards the State. The Samajwadi Party (SP) chief said ``though the UPA government has done little, the SP will continue its support to the Centre.'' Describing as unfortunate the treatment meted out to the Sankaracharya, Mr Yadav told reporters here that the matter should have been handled in a better way as the arrest of the seer had hurt the sentiments of numerous followers. He was here to inaugurate Gangajal Project. He also said that the law and order situation in the State had improved a lot and alleged false propaganda by some parties. ``The ordinance regarding Mohammad Ali Johar Urdu University will be passed in the Assembly tomorrow and if it is sent back by the Governor again, the issue will be solved through negotiations'', the Samajwadi supremo said in reply to a question. The Chief Minister said that the party's parliamentary board would meet to decide its strategy for the winter session of Parliament starting from December 1.
Reliance project
Mr. Yadav said the ongoing tussle between Ambani brothers over control of the Rs 90,000-crore Reliance group will not affect the 3,740 mw Reliance Dadri project here, scheduled to go on stream by July 2006. Hoping that the dispute will soon be resolved amicably, he told reporters that the controversy would not affect the commissioning of the gas-based project, being set up with an investment of Rs 11,000 crores. Referring to Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani and Vice Chairman Anil Ambani, he said, ``The brothers are wise and I am sure they would act sensibly. Their father late Dhirubhai Ambani worked towards making Reliance a global company, which is among Asia's leading corporations today. He said he had not made any offer to mediate in the matter. ``I have not made any such offer,'' he said.
