KOCHI, NOV. 29. The Education Minister, E.T. Mohammed Basheer, has said that steps will be taken to obtain the Kerala Public Service Commission recognition for more courses of the vocational higher secondary schools. Inaugurating the award presentation and reception to the top winners of Darul Ulum VHS School, Pulleppady here today, the Minister said that at present only 13 trades had been recognised by the PSC. He promised that timely changes would be brought in the structure of the VHSS courses taking into consideration the fact that the old courses were being sidelined in the trade sector. The Minister also said that the sanction for the appointment of laboratory assistant to VHS schools had already been given. However, he said, a quick decision could not be taken on the appointment of librarians. The salary due to the Plus Two teachers had also been distributed, he said.
Grading system
A 15-member-team would visit the schools in all districts for solving issues regarding the grading system. Training has been given to 45,000 teachers. Mr. Basheer presented gold medal to Nikki Stanley who won the third rank in Science Group in the State-level examinations of the VHSC. The Fisheries and Sports Minister, Dominic Presentation, presented awards to the students of the school who have won prizes in sports and athletic competitions at the school and other levels. Abdula Haji Ahamed Sait presided over the function. He also presented the Ministers with mementoes. K.V. Thomas, MLA; K. Babu, MLA; the school manager, H.E. Muhammed Babu Sait, and the Principal, P.M. Najma, also spoke.
