Security beefed up

HYDERABAD, NOV. 29. The Hyderabad and Cyberabad have stepped up mobile patrolling in view of the bandh on Tuesday called by the Bharatiya Janata Party in protest against suicides by farmers and weavers.

The South Zone DCP, Mahesh M. Bhagawath, said the entire force in his zone had been asked to be on `stand to' orders in to meet any challenge in the backdrop of the bandh. Two platoons of additional forces had been rushed to the zone. He said police pickets had been posted at sensitive localities.

The West Zone DCP, N. Sanjay, made it clear that paralysing traffic on the trunk route of Ameerpet-Panjagutta stretch would not be allowed at any cost.
