CHITRADURGA, NOV. 30. Mirajuddin Patel, Minister for Animal Husbandry and Wakf, said the Government would give a boost to the dairy and animal husbandry sector in the State. Inaugurating the scientific market yard for sheep at Kudapura Sheep Breeding and Training Centre on Tuesday, Mr. Patel said he would consider the establishment of a separate directorate for promoting sheep rearing. "We have submitted a proposal of Rs. 48 crores to the Union Government for the development of sheep and wool industry in the State. Another proposal of Rs. 65 crores, for the development of the dairy sector, is also pending with the Union Government," he said. He said that vaccines would be distributed free of cost in the State to get sheep immunized. The incentive for sheep rearing societies would also be increased from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 20,000, he said. Around 3,695 families in rural areas would be provided with 10 local ewes and an improved crossbreed ram at a cost of Rs. 19,700. N.Y. Hanumanthappa, MP, urged banks to grant loans for animal husbandry without a bank guarantee. K. Virupakshappa, Koppal MP, and N.Y. Gopalakrishna, Molakalmuru MLA spoke on the occasion. Mr. Hanumanthappa handed over electronic weighing machines to the representatives of various sheep rearing societies in the State. Mr. Virupakshappa inaugurated a workshop about scientific methods of sheep rearing.
