CPI leader writes to Collector on illegal landholdings

By our Special Correspondent

TIRUPATI. Nov. 30. Chada Venkata Reddy, CPI floor leader, today furnished to the Chottoor Collector a list of landholdings in the district which were under the `illegal occupation' of some `outsiders' who allegedly included politicians, Government employees and traders.

He sought the intervention of the Collector, S.S. Rawat, for recovering the lands from their `illegal occupants' and their distribution to landless poor or to those who had been tilling them.

The CPI leader, in his letter, cited the case of a `powerful person' forcibly evicting poor farmers, who had been cultivating the land for the last 70 years from a 320-acre landholding in Gudimallam village near Srikalahasti belonging to the local Siva temple.

Other landholdings which he referred to were located mostly in the mandals of Srikalahasti, Yerpedu, Renigunta, Varadaiahpalem, B.N Kandriga, Molakalachervu
