BANGALORE, DEC. 1. The Governor-designate of Maharashtra, S.M. Krishna, is expected to abide by the decision of the Congress High Command and assume charge this weekend. Sources close to Mr. Krishna told The Hindu here today that there was no question of the former Chief Minister of Karnataka refusing to accept an appointment approved by the Congress president, Sonia Gandhi. They said Mr. Krishna would hold any position given to him by the Congress High Command. Mr. Krishna, who returned from China on Tuesday, is in Delhi to meet Ms. Gandhi. Congress sources said Mr. Krishna was earlier in two minds whether to take up the gubernatorial position since all through his political career he had been in active politics. A section of Congressmen in the State had pleaded with Mr. Krishna to remain in Karnataka. Prior to his departure for China, he had said he would like to tour the State to strengthen the Congress base.
