This Day That Age
A Home Ministry communique issued on December 2 says the President has approved the appointment of Mr. Justice Bijan Kumar Mukherjea to be the Chief Justice of India upon the retirement of Mr. Justice Mehr Chand Mahajan with effect from December 23, 1954. Mr. Mukherjea has been a Judge of the Supreme Court since January 26, 1950.
