JAIPUR, DEC. 2. Eminent Gandhian Siddhraj Dhadda has expressed concern over continuing disorder in Parliament even after assurances from the members to the Speaker of the Lok Sabha. "The first day's performance itself is disappointing. Why don't the members use the parliamentary forum to highlight the people's issues?'' the nonagenarian asked. "I am worried about the harm their behaviour can cause to the image of the democratic institutions. Throughout the previous session Parliament did not function due to non-cooperation by Opposition members. This time round despite promises things are not showing much improvement,'' Mr.Dhadda said. "Let Parliament function. The people have elected their representatives to safeguard their interests in Parliament,'' Mr.Dhadda said. "It is not becoming of the Opposition to be perennially in an agitated mood irrespective of the issues involved.'' Mr.Dhadda was critical of the Bharatiya Janata Party taking it to the streets on the first day of the new Parliament session. "They have come out in their true colours. If not inside the House it is on the streets,'' he noted. There were parties which wanted to demoralise people on the country's democracy. ''This is one way of forcing people to consider other forms of governance and look for other options including dictatorship,'' Mr.Dhadda warned.
