Trace rainfall

CHENNAI, DEC. 2. The sky will be partly cloudy on Friday and a light shower is possible in some areas. The minimum temperature will be around 24 degrees Celsius.

On Thursday, Nungambakkam recorded a maximum temperature of 30.3 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 23 degrees Celsius while Meenambakkam recorded 30.5 and 22.6 degrees Celsius respectively. Humidity at Nungambakkam was 75 per cent and at Meenambakkam, 77 per cent.

Trace rainfall was also recorded in Nungambakkam.

Power cut

Power supply will be suspended between 9 a.m and 5 p.m in parts of Thousandlights, Gopalapuram, Pantheon Road, Villivakkam, Tondiarpet, Flower Bazaar, Kilpauk, Santhome, Kodambakkam and K.K. Nagar for maintenance work.

Japanese classes

The ABK AOTS Dosokai, Tamil Nadu Centre will conduct fresh Japanese language classes from January 2005 for the benefit of people in and around Chennai at nominal fees. Phone: 2374 0318/2374 3575.

Property fair

LIC Housing Finance is conducting a property fair on December 3, 4 and 5 at Venkat Sesh Mahal, 1, MTH Road, Padi. It is organised by the LIC Housing Finance, Anna Nagar Area Office.

Customer meet

As part of Tamil Nadu State Apex Cooperative Bank's centenary celebrations, its Villivakkam Branch conducted a customer meet on Saturday. Many customers wanted an ATM counter.

P.S. Tirugnanam, Special Officer of the Bank presided over the meet, explained various loan schemes to suit customers' need. Books and aids were distributed to poor students.

Bank meet

Canara Bank organised a special customers fortnight at Anna Salai. C.R. Saraswathi, Chairperson, Tamil Nadu Social Welfare Board presided over the function where 30 customers participated.

N. Kannan, senior manager, said the bank would celebrate its centenary year from July 1, 2005. M. Balasubramanian, senior manager and C. Rathinam, officer, also spoke.

Mental math

At the Aloha Mental Arithmetic National-Level competition held here last week, the Jawahar Nagar Centre bagged 10 prizes. S. Shanmugasundaram, S. Karthikeyan, S. Praveen Kumar, S. Vishnuvardhan, R. Niveditha, S. anand, E. Girish Kumar, C.V. Balasubash, V. Praveen Kumar and M. Suryasivasubramaniam won prizes.

The international competition will be held in April 2005 at Malaysia.

Srivari Seva

ENS ENTIUM, a social service organisation from Saligramam, engaged in Srivari Seva at Tirumala- Tirupati will conduct monthly briefing sessions on the first Sunday of every month.
