KOCHI, DEC. 2. A majority of office-bearers of the Kerala Congress (B) district unit have quit the party and decided to join the Kerala Congress (Secular). Announcing this at a press conference organised here today, Dominic Kavunkal, district president, said that this decision was taken because of the reluctance of the party chairman, R. Balakrishna Pillai, to take a clear stand on issues facing the State. "Mr Pillai was unwilling to accommodate even his son, K. B. Ganesh Kumar, in the State Cabinet. Party leaders and workers do not stand to benefit under Mr. Pillai's leadership. He has not commented on the Kozhikode ice-cream parlour case and the attack on media persons. He must be playing safe, to get a ministerial berth. Unlike KC(B), Kerala Congress (Secular) is not a party where an individual's writ runs supreme," he said. All the 25 office-bearers who had resigned from the party were present at the press conference.
